More Kansas Insurrection...

It's almost like 1861 all over again, (only we don't have a strong Pro-South governor in office this time).

On August 6th I posted an article here on the Missouri Bushwhacker Blog stating that U.S. Senator from Kansas, Sam Brownback had fought to secure funding for his "Looter's Lane" (eh hem, I mean "Freedom's Frontier" project. Which is to interpret the Civil War on the Kansas / Missouri Border area.

The problem is, if he wanted to define it from a Kansas {Jayhawker} viewpoint then maybe he should have made sure that "Looter's Lane" stayed in Kansas, but he didn't. He got Missouri sell-out "Chicken Jim" Talent to help secure the dough for the Missouri side, (12 counties worth)!

Now it is being reported by the Fired Up! Missouri.Com website that:

"According to capital sources, a Kansas group has filed an initiative petition to overturn Missouri's 2006 election on the stem cell research and cures ballot measure.

The  Overland Park, Kansas group filed its election voiding petition with the Secretary of State's Office today.

More on this developing Border War as events warrant."

Border War indeed. I personally, am against stem cell research, but that's not really the point in this case is it? This was an issue that was decided in Missouri, yet as in the case of "Looter's Lane", Kansas isn't content to mind their own business.

Whose behind this attempt to impose Kansas beliefs on Missouri? Perhaps it is Sam Brownback, but I detect a more sinister plot. Looking at the bigger picture, I think this is coming directly from the G.O.P. itself.

The writing's on the wall. The Republicans lost a much needed Senate seat because of "Chicken Jim" Talent's South-Hating and Carpet Bagging, (which didn't exactly help the immigration problem in our state). Now there are signs that the Republicans are going to lose their grip of Missouri at the State level.

The recent Nathan Cooper scandal, has given them a black eye. In addition the Southeast Missourian newspaper reported that ...

"For Blunt, it was at least the eighth visit to Southeast Missouri -- and the sixth to Cape Girardeau -- since May 31. The trip was part of a statewide education tour, with the costs of his travel, Blunt said, being borne by his re-election campaign"

Wow, that's alot of visits down here Guvner. Perhaps he is getting desperate. Cape Girardeau is a Republican stronghold and it appears that he might be worried about shoring up his base.

So basically nothing has changed in 144 years. The Radical Republicans unable to get Missourians to bend the way they want them to, have turned to Kansas in an attempt to get the desired results.
