"D.C. Tony"

Remember this guy? Here in America he was known as "Baghdad Bob", his real name was / is, Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf the former Iraqi Information Minister who became famous because of his "creative" press releases during the U.S. second invasion of Iraq. Probably one of the most famous quotes from "Baghdad Bob" was featured in the Augst 11'th ,2003 edition of the LA Times which reported that...

"the Iraqi military was itself fooled by the creative reporting of furloughed Iraqi Information Minister Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf (M.S.S.): "After the information minister claimed that Iraqi forces had retaken the Baghdad airport from U.S. troops, two former commanders said, Republican Guard Gen. Mohammed Daash was dispatched to check out a rumor that four or five American tanks had survived the Iraqi counterattack. Daash returned to his headquarters in a panic. "Four or five tanks!'' the commanders quoted Daash as telling his fellow generals. "Are you out of your minds? The whole damn American Army is at the airport!'' "

Well as they say in Hollywood, "Baghdad Bob" is old news baby. There's a new rising star in the entertainment industry these days. Make way for "D.C. Tony"!

White House Spokesman Tony Snow (A.K.A. "D.C. Tony")

In Austrailia's "The Age" online newspaper this week reported that the Iraqi Foreign Minister is fearing a U.S. pull out of the country...

"IRAQI politicians claim their Government could collapse, sparking civil war and regional conflict, if the US begins withdrawing troops too quickly.

The forecast coincides with rising pressure on US President George Bush and the Iraqi leader, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, from political opponents who want to see the US occupation end.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari alluded to fears of a collapse at a news conference, where he hinted that some Sunni Arab politicians were trying to orchestrate a no-confidence vote against Mr Maliki to bring down his Shiite-led Government.

"There is rising speculation about the stability of the Government," he said. "These speculations are exaggerated."

By mentioning the rumours, Mr Zebari made clear that the chatter had caught the Government's attention.

As he spoke, Iraq endured another day of bloodshed and political stagnation. More than 50 people were killed or found dead in violence linked to the sectarian war"

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari also noted that Turkey has massed 140,000 troops on the Iraqi border fueling the fears of a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq.

But don't worry! "D.C. Tony" was quick to report that ...

"What Congress will get this week is a snapshot of the beginning of the retooling of the mission in Iraq"

ABC News reports that Snow...

"argued that it's too soon to be talking about end-game strategies."

Right, "D.C." Tony, that's how "Baghdad Bob" felt about the airport.
