More Higginsville Betrayal

This was the scene last week in Higginsville, Missouri at the annual Confederate Memorial Day celebration held on the grounds of the Higginsville Confederate Cemetery.

There was one thing missing this year, and one item that should have never appeared there.

I have received reports that the flag pole that was previously used to fly the Confederate Flag on (pre-Bob Holden administration) has been removed all together.

Actually, there are two things missing. No make that three things missing... With no flag pole on the grounds, our Governor, Matt Blunt didn't have to give that pesky order to humor his Southern constituency by "allowing" the Confederate Battle Flag to fly at Higginsville for one day. With no flag pole there is no need to order the Confederate flag up, and hence no backlash from the "Black Klan" (A.K.A. the NAACP).

Let this be a lesson to those who chose to vote for Blunt once again because (oh my gosh) he "allowed" the Confederate flag to fly at Higginsville for a single day!

Never mind the fact that it used to fly EVERY DAY for DECADES before Governor Holden ordered them removed.

Rumor has it , that the flag pole was removed because of the proposed "flag plaza" that the Missouri Department of Resources wants to build, which would also only allow the Confederate Flag to fly one day a year at the Higginsville CONFEDERATE Cemetery. Let's not also forget that the proposed flag plaza says nothing about Fort Davidson at Pilot Knob, Missouri either.

One other point to ponder for those who voted for Blunt. Did you ever consider the fact that one governor removed the flags and one governor could certainly restore them?

Now that we've covered the three things that were missing, let us move on to the one thing that should have NEVER been at the Higginsville Memorial Day service.

Look at the picture above. Now look at the second flag from the left. That my friends is a Kansas flag. The flag that represents the "Jayhawker" state. The state that was responsible for more killing, looting and burning of Missourians, their families and their property during the Border War and War for Southern Independence.

Let's make one thing perfectly clear, right here, right now. There is no way in hell, that that flag should be on Missouri soil period, much less a Confederate Memorial Day service!

I understand that we have Sons of Confederate Veterans members in Kansas. If they truly were Confederates, then THEY would understand the meaning and the insult that they committed by bringing a Kansas flag onto a Missouri Confederate cemetery.

There is no reason that they could not have brought their "camp flag" with them , no my friends this is a point of honor, or should I say deliberate dishonor.

While there are some good SCV camps in Missouri, the state leadership (not all, but most) continue to show their incompetence by sanctioning this slap in the face.

While the flag poles come down, and our heritage in continually trampled upon, the Missouri Sons of Confederate Veterans state leadership quietly whispers "compromise".

Note to our National SCV leadership:

The task force you have appointed to get our flags back at Higginsville and Pilot Knob , Missouri, doesn't want them back. They are made up of the same ole rank and file do-nothings , that well, do nothing, but cut active SCV members down, and criticize them for wanting to fight for our heritage.

They enjoy being Southern, as long as they can do it in the woods where no one can see them. They consider those who want to get our flags back to flying everyday as "too Southern".

They're the ones that won't sign a petition for Missouri SCV members to get our own liscence plates, because they are afraid to have a Battle Flag seen on their vehicles. One word describes the whole situation. Pathetic.

If you want the flags back up you are going to have to do one or two things. Buy the property (or part of it) at Higginsville and Pilot Knob, from the State of Missouri. Or, buy the Governor.

It's as simple as that. You don't need a task force.

For those whispering "compromise" its too late for that you morons! Some suggested reading...

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought.  To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish.  Remember, it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations.

McCaskill Comes Through...

Go to fullsize image

Editor's notes:

Well folks, by now you've no doubt realized that I haven't posted anything for several days. That is because my family and I have been in San Antonio, Texas. Sorry about not warning you ahead of time, but I don't like to announce when I'm leaving town.

For now, I'd like to make a quick post about the immigration bill that just got defeated in the U.S. Senate. Supporters called it reform, opponents, like me , (and probably you) know what it really was, amnesty. They were just going to charge the immigrants a slightly higher price for it this time.

I was also glad to see that Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, voted AGAINST this latest attempt at amnesty. On her website McCaskill states...

"When the U.S. Senate recently took up the immigration bill, there were hours and hours of complicated discussions about what to do about the problem. I believe it could be addressed in a very simple way.  As a former prosecutor, I believe it is about following the law.  As an auditor, I believe it is about following the money...

when I looked at the raid that occurred in Butterfield, Missouri a few weeks ago when over 100 illegal immigrants were arrested, I kept watching the news for some word about that employer, but there was nothing.

I know what they’ll say. The employer’s defenders will say, “but that employer down near Springfield at the chicken processing plant didn’t know – the workers had fake IDs.  They had fake Social Security numbers.” If anyone believes that employer did not know they had illegal immigrants working there, I have a bridge I want to sell you.  Of course they knew.

If you had a good prosecutor and a couple of investigators, in no time at all you’d have the evidence to prove that thousands of employers in this country are not playing by the rules. But that’s not happening right now and the employers who hire illegal immigrants know they don’t have to worry because no one is interested in putting them in jail...

Under current law, employers right can serve up to 6 months in prison.  If we prosecuted more employers, it would do more to shut the flow of illegal immigrants, frankly, than all the legislation we could ever pass in Congress because it would send the message to American employers that they are not going to be rewarded with more profits by breaking the rules.

If we want to stop illegal immigration in this country, we have to get serious about the magnet that is drawing these people to our country, instead of looking the other way when people hire illegal immigrants.  Until we stop looking the other way, ignoring those businesses that are not playing by the rules, we will never effectively deal with immigration in this country.

This doesn’t have to be complicated. Enforce the law. It is a mistake to toy and allow bureaucrats to decide who has broken the law, like one amendment I opposed. Rather, when someone breaks the law they should be brought in front of our criminal justice system and be accountable to the courts.

But frankly, we don’t even need this legislation to be effective. If this Administration would only enforce current law, it would make a tremendous difference.

In fact, I voted against the Senate immigration bill for a number of reasons, but there were two that really stuck out at me. I could not support the expansion of a broken guest worker program and I did not think the employer sanctions were tough enough."

Of course, recently George W. Bush said that those who oppose his latest amnesty treachery"don't want to do what's good for America" .

I think "W" was talking about a different "America", Mexico, Central and South "America".
