Edgar Steele victim of Racial Discrimination?

I was listening to The Political Cesspool radio program tonight and learned of something quite interesting.

Apparently Idaho attorney Edgar Steele (pictured at right) made a last minute request to be a guest on the show.

The reason? Steele a member of the national Constitution Party recently had his application to become a member of the Idaho State Constitution Party denied.

According to Steele's website: http://www.nickelrant.com :

"The Black Idaho Constitution Party Chairman, Paul Venable, has just rejected Edgar Steele's application for rank-and-file membership in the Idaho State chapter of the Constitution Party.

This outrageous action follows Venable's earlier pledge to "find someone" to run against Steele in the 2010 Idaho Constitution Party primary election for nomination for Governor if Edgar Steele decides to run, anyway."

Already a member of the National Constitution Party, Steele has voted a straight Constitution Party ticket since the days when it was called the Taxpayers' Party and has raised extensive contributions and votes for Constitution Party candidates in the past, most recently Chuck Baldwin, who ran for President on the Constitution Party ticket in 2008.  Like Baldwin, who merely is "affiliated" with the Constitution Party, Steele previously has avoided joining any parties or groups so as to maintain the degree of separation necessary for credibility both in courtrooms and outside them.

Followers of Steele's writings know what an ardent proponent of the Constitution Party he has been, not to mention the US Constitution.  Steele also has extensively defended the constitutional rights of the politically oppressed in America in courtrooms up and down the West Coast.

The irony of the current Chairman of the Idaho Constitution Party, a Black man, now rejecting Edgar Steele for mere membership in the State chapter of the party will not be lost upon students of the Constitution, since it effectively denies Steele many of the rights guaranteed every American under the US Constitution."

Paul Venable

Idaho State Constitution Party Chairman Paul Venable (pictured at right) had a decision to make when he received Steele's application.

He could uphold the principles of the Constitution (that his party was formed to uphold) or he could reject Mr. Steele's application based solely on the basis of race.

Mr. Venable, unfortunately chose the latter. Our country was founded upon
principles not feelings .

Whether you agree with Mr. Steele's personal beliefs or not a party that defends the Constitution, has an obligation to uphold those beliefs.

You can also email Idaho Constitution Party State Chairman Paul Venable at: chairman@cpidaho.org

Please tell them that the Constitution Party needs to uphold the principles of the Constitution and that Edgar Steele a member of the National Constitution Party, should be allowed to join the Idaho Constitution Party.

Remember, be respectful, be nice, be polite. Here is a letter that I sent to the National Headquarters...

"I can not believe that Idaho Constitution Party Idaho State Chairman Paul Venable, has rejected the application of Edgar Steele as a rank and file member of the Idaho Constitution Party.

Mr. Steele is a member of the national Constitution Party and is a resident of Idaho that wants to run for Governor.

Mr. Steele's beliefs closely mirror those of the Constitution Party and the majority of the residents of Idaho.

How can Mr. Venable deny membership to Mr. Steele?

It is my opinion that Mr. Venable is discriminating against Mr. Steele. He is violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964. If Mr. Venable can not put the ideals of the Constitution itself above those of his race then, perhaps he should step down as Chairman of the Idaho Constitution Party."

If Mr. Venable does not like Mr. Steele, he could run as a candidate against him for Governor of Idaho in the primary himself but to deny his application altogether shows a true disregard of the party's principles and a definite lack of proffesionalism on his part.
