The following post was my "Goodbye" to my relationship with the Southeast Missourian newspaper. This is good news to many Missouri Bushwhacker Blog readers who have been wondering where I went, the Bushwhacker Blog will be updated more often.-Clint, Missouri Bushwhacker
This is my last blog post for the Southeast Missourian; the reason seems to be one that readers have heard before from Jon Rust and those that manage the paper in print and online... "Front Page Criteria". On March 4, 2009 I posted an article critical of President Barack Hussein Obama, one that questioned his Constitutional creditials to serve as president as well as informing readers about HR-45 , a gun-grabbing piece of legislation that has "piggy-backed" his way in the president's stimulus package.
The article, which I entitled, "A Tale of Two Dictators" stayed on the front page of the Southeast Missourian website until sometime today when it was "pulled" and replaced by Matt Sanders blog about peanut butter.
I called Mr. Sanders and left a message on his phone at 2:25 p.m. today asking why the blog post had been pulled from the front page, giving my number and telling him that I would greatly appreciate it if he would get back to me.
What a surprise it was at 3:46 pm to receive a phone call from Southeast Missourian publisher Jon Rust.
He told me that it was his understanding that I was wondering why "A Tale of Two Dictators" had been moved from the front page of the Southeast Missourian.
I responded by stating that I would like to know the reason.
He replied by saying, "The Southeast Missourian has a certain criteria for the front page".
I asked him to be more specific about the criteria and he replied by saying, "The Southeast Missourian has a certain criteria for the front page"
I again responded by stating "Do you realize that I did not approach the Southeast Missourian about writing a blog but rather the Southeast Missourian approached me?"
He replied by stating that he did understand this.
It's true; on December I received an email from Matt Sander that stated the following
"I notice from the stories you submit that you like to write quite a bit
about real issues in Bollinger County and beyond. Would you be interested in a blog, where you could interact with readers?
Given the subjects you're interested in I think you'd get a great
response."
Well apparently "Bollinger County and beyond" does not include the subject of Barack Hussein Obama.
I told Mr. Rust that it was my understanding that the Southeast Missourian was a Conservative paper and thought it odd that an article critical of President Obama would be pulled from the front page.
Mr. Rust responded by saying "The front page is reserved for certain criteria. You're article still appears on the blog page.
At this point I very politely informed Mr. Rust that I would soon be ending my relationship with the Southeast Missourian newspaper.
Mr. Rust told me that I was welcome to continue writing a blog for the Southeast Missourian.
I thanked Mr. Rust but told him that if I was going to write for the Missourian it was going to be something worth writing about and suggested to him that if he wanted meaningless fluff I'm sure Mr. Hollerback would be interested in doubling up on his blog posts.
You see for the Southeast Missourian, "criteria" means writing about the Reese's Peanut Butter Egg as Mr. Hollerbach's does in his latest post.
What does not fit the criteria is being critical of the "Messiah", President Obama, conservative paper be damned!
Yes, it appears that I have committed the ultimate sin.
This is not a problem that limits itself to the Southeast Missourian's management, we are in troubled times, the message is clear; no one is to defy or criticize President Obama.
I consider myself to be a "Jeffersonian Democrat" and have never really been a fan of Rush Limbaugh, but I have to give the man credit for one thing, in a time when other Republicans have "gotten the message", rolled over and played dead, he stands firm in his criticism towards the president, refusing to compromise his principles.
It's too bad that Jon Rust doesn't share these principles; the whole situation reminds me of a scene in the 2007 movie "Valley of Elah".
As Tommy Lee Jones is leaving town to find his son, he spots an immigrant janitor raising the U.S. flag upside down on the school flag pole.
When Jones asks him if he knows what it means, the janitor replies "no".
Jones then informs the janitor that, (and I'm paraphrasing here) it is an international distress symbol. It means that our backs are to the wall, we're in a world of crap and there is no way out.
Yes, change has come.

Goodbye From the Foothills
Most folks in the Ozark Foothills region of Southeast Missouri are staunch supporters of the 2'cd Amendment, so I thought the following information would be of interest to them.
Springfield, Virginia based Gun Owners of America has just released an analysis of the latest "gun grabbing" legislation to be introduced in Congress.
"What makes H.R. 45 troubling" according to G.O.A., "Is its sponsor and its timing.
Its sponsor is Congressman Bobby Rush -- a scion of the same super-corrupt Chicago political machine that produced disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich and President Barack Obama.
And as for its timing, it was introduced during the confirmation of Attorney General nominee Eric Holder -- the man who tried exploit the Columbine tragedy in order to pass gun licensing as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton administration."
Gun Owners of America in its summary, suggests that…
- Veterans psychological records would no longer be off limits and that the FBI would be able to examine every statement ever made during a consultation to a psychologist or psychiatrist.
-The bill would make it unlawful to keep a loaded firearm for self-defense.
- Criminal penalties for up to ten years for violating this policy and unlimited inspection and regulatory authority. {I'm assuming this would apply to private residents as well}
-"Ammunition Accountability", which would literally outlaw ammunition in select states.
According to the GOA the bill is so dangerous that it could, "soon make gun ownership a thing of the past"

According to an article posted on the February 26,2009 CBS News website , Attorney General Eric Holder expressed a desire to reinstitute the Clinton -Assault Weapons and make it permanent.
President Obama and Attorney General Holder are trying to justify the latest "gun grab" by stating that it is needed to curb the rising crime rates in Mexico, again quoting Attorney General Holder from an article found on the March 4, 2009 Boston.Com website:
"Reinstituting a federal ban on the sale of assault weapons, which lapsed in 2004, "will have a positive impact in Mexico, at minimum."
A positive impact on Mexico?
I've got a better idea. Why not let the Mexican people clean up their own country. Mexican drug cartels have the means and the money to get the weapons they want from anywhere in the world, it doesn't have to be from the U.S. and if assault weapons are banned here,U.S. citizens on our Southern border will still be left vunerable to these invaders with no means to defend themselves.
A better idea would be to enforce the current immigration laws, and protect the U.S. border as prescribed by the Constitution, instead of pandering to illegal immigrants in order to make them dues-paying members in labor unions.
During the campaign there was much speculation as to whether or not President Obama was even a citizen of the United States. Obama's website www.fightthesmears.com released an image of his Certification of Live Birth.
This was supposed to put the rumors to rest, yet on October 26, 2008, World Net Daily.com published an article that stated:
"Although the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama's birth certificate has become a focus of intense speculation - and even several lawsuits - WND has learned that Hawaii's Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate's birth certificate under seal and instructed the state's Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances. The governor's office officially declined a request made in writing by WND in Hawaii to obtain a copy of the hospital-generated original birth certificate of Barack Obama"
My point is this; America has a President, whose own Constitutional legitimacy to his office has been questioned, threatening the Constitutional rights of millions of Americans, a president who wants to take your guns in order to make Mexico a safer country, a President that is willing to use his Chicago cronies in an attempt to outlaw ammunition and use confidential patient/ client records to keep veterans from owning firearms.
It is sad to think that thousands of Americans have given their lives to dispose of a dictator named Hussein in Iraq, only to have Americans willingly appoint a dictator named Hussein at home.
