"The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."
Samual Adams
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States.
Noah Webster
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
Thomas Jefferson
That the people have a right to keep and bear arms; that a well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defence of a free state; that standing armies, in time of peace, are dangerous to liberty, and therefore ought to be avoided, as far as the circumstances and protection of the community will admit; and that, in all cases, the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.
Recommended Bill of Rights from the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 27, 1778
Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? It is feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.
A Pennsylvanian, The Pennsylvania Gazette, February 20, 1788
[T]he people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full possession of them.
Zacharia Johnson, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 25, 1778
[W]hen the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, — who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually, by totally disusing and neglecting the militia.
George Mason, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 14, 1778
W]hereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.
Federal Farmer, Anti federalist Letter, No.18, January 25, 1778
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.
Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 19, 1785
"Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense."
John Adams
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth (and) keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them [guns] by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference [crime]. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour."
George Washington
"To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them."
George Mason
"A free people ought to be armed."
George Washington
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
Thomas Jefferson
"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose people are afraid to trust them with arms."
James Madison
It is very clear where the Founders stood on firearms ownership: They wanted everyone to own a firearm; for personal defense, civil defense and to defend themselves against government, in the event the government should become tyrannical.
These were great individuals who knew just how precious freedom was and what it would take to keep it.
Let's compare the quotes of these great men to a modern day traitor: Bill Clinton.
"When we got organized as a country, [and] wrote a fairly radical Constitution, with a radical Bill of Rights, giving radical amounts of freedom to Americans, it was assumed that Americans who had that freedom would use it responsibly...When personal freedom is being abused, you have to move to limit it."
(April 19 1994, on MTV)
Bill is not the only one that feels this way. Obama and his administration feel the same way. They hate the Founding Fathers and the Constitution, as much as our enemies do.
Well, let's face it, politically speaking, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, Schumer, Biden and the entire Democrat Party are our enemies. They are a clear and present danger to our freedom. However, so is a good portion of the Republican Party.
One thing's for sure, the Democrat's want to disarm every American..........don't let 'em take yours!
